11 Months!!

Time flies! I can't believe that we have only one month until James turns 1!! Today is his 11 month birthday and looking at this past month he has grown so much! He is walking more and more everyday! He likes to stand and play with his toys (not holding on to anything). Here are some pictures from this past month... hopefully none of the pictures are repeats!

Look at those gorgeous eyes! I love them so much! James loves to clap- he claps all of the time and whenever music is on he claps and bobs his body up and down.

James lays down like this everytime he is scared around someone new and nobody is there to hold him. If someone is holding him, we will turn away from the stranger and cuddle with whoever is holding him. He is such a cuddler- he will always cuddle with mommy and daddy. Whenever we ask him for a hug he just cuddles with us!

James loves exploring and getting into everything. Matt turned his back for a few seconds and James disappeared; when Matt went to find him, he found James in his upstairs toy box playing with his piano!

James has a huge appetite and will eat just about any solid food....when he wants to- he always knows exactly what he wants to eat and what he doesn't. Sometimes he likes bananas, but sometimes all he will eat are green beans. Sometimes he refuses grapes and then later in the day thats the only thing he wants. What a silly boy! He is starting to dislike baby food more and more. He just shakes his head no to communicate what he doesn't want/like at that particular moment.

James loves water! Most of the time he will choose water over milk.

He likes drinking water from water bottles and 'big people' cups even more- he fuses if he sees someone drinking water and they won't share...usually his shirt is drenched when all is said and done, but he LOVES it!

James is such a happy baby. He loves scooting on this toy but he can only scoot backwards by himself and he has a hard time getting off of it by himself.

Another water picture- he loves playing in the sink and has quickly learned how to turn on and off the water... though most times he tries not to let people turn the water off.

James playing by himself- luckily grandma and grandpa kept all of Aunt Ambers baby toys so James has lots of toys to play with... he is going to be so bored when we get back to Provo! Matt says that James is really independent when I am gone at work, but when I get home, most of the time James needs to be with me- either me holding him or me giving him undivided attention... I don't mind too much since I am not with him all day.

James learning to walk- this picture was taken a few weeks ago and James has been able to walk a little further than that now.

This is a fuzzy picture but it is still cute- he loves to flip books. He usually isn't patient enough for me to read to him because all he wants to do is flip the pages.

Here is daddy get James ready for a bike ride along the coast!

We stopped to take some pictures!

This was James' first time at the beach and he loved it!

He is such a cute kid! Sadly he has learned to whine, so when he doesn't get what he wants he whines and 'fake cries' but thankfully it isn't quite a tantrum yet. Oh boy... I can't believe he is growing so fast!!

Camping Time!

Well, we went camping a few weeks ago and, as usual, I am a little late putting these pictures up. We were very fortunate to be able to stay in a friends cabin for 3 nights, so it made taking care of James a lot easier than I thought. There are tons of pictures, so sorry for the overload!

On the way to the cabin we had to stop and take a picture of this sunset. It was taken at 11 pm at night and the sun was barely setting. I am in my pj's because it was a four hour roadtrip and I wanted to be comfy!

Grandpa hanging out with James. The floor was plywood and I didn't want James to get a splinter while he crawled so I put gloves on him.

Sometimes James likes to do what we call the 'stinkbug' where he walks on his hands and feet with his booty in the air.

We had to take a picture of the outhouse!

I gave James one of Grandma Shipley's favorite treats, pumpkin seeds, and he loved them!

While we were camping, we decided to take a drive and go to multiple beaches- on one beach their were dead fish everywhere- yuck!

James walking to the water- it was pretty windy so we bundled him up!

In one of the towns nearby there was a little pond so we decided to take a picture there

Daddy and James

One of the many pretty views from our cabin

James loves cheerios and Aunt Ashley decided to have a little fun with him!

Mommy and James

One day we decided to visit the edge of Alaska- perfect photo moment!

It is so hard to get Matt to smile- silly guy!

Here we are at the other beach- it was much colder that day! As I was showing James the water, a big tide came in a got my feet all wet... James thought it was funny :)

Here is a happy picture of Daddy and James!

Matt having fun with James

Back at the cabin with Grandpa

One night we decided to do smores and while outside we noticed that the trees had hair growing off of the branches! So we took some off and had a photo shoot- here is one picture from that fun time!

Bear Paw Festival!

Every year in Eagle River (that's the town we live in- about 15 minutes outside of Anchorage) they have a festival called Bear Paw Festival. There are lots of things to do- relay races, carnival, 5k race, magicans, picnics, and lots of food just to name a few things. This year we decided to participate in the 5K race and the carnival. The 5k race basically killed me, but I am glad I completed with most of the other Maugers! Here are some pictures!
Here is what the carnival area looked like on Friday

Matt, James, Kristin, Amber, Ashley and Grandma Mauger went to a picnic on Friday while I was working- it was PERFECT weather for a picnic!

Saturday morning right before we left for the 5K- here is everyone in the family that ran- from left to right it is Matt, me, Grandma Mauger, Kristin, Ashley and Stuart... all of us with our matching outfits :)

This is a few pictures of Matt right before he crossed the finish line. Look closely at the girl (#246) on Matt's left and follow her through the series of pictures below (you may have to click on the third picture in order to open it and see it close up):

Here is everyone after the race... we did it!

Matt and I sweaty and in love :)

After the race we went home, showered and then went back for the carnival. James rode the merry go round and really enjoyed it. He kept bouncing his body up and down dancing to the music while on the horse!

We also went on the train with Aunt Amber. James sat quietly on the train, but didn't show any signs of really enjoying it. Overall it was a fun weekend!

Fourth of July Weekend

We really enjoyed the long weekend for fourth of July- here are a few highlights:

We went rafting on the Kenai river. Everyone went except for James and Grandma Mauger- we didn't know how strong the rapids would be so we played it safe and didn't take James with us.

It was such a pretty day while we were rafting! Here are two landscape pictures to show you a little bit of Alaska!

We met up with James and Grandma Mauger afterwards and took some pictures with James- this was one of the few pictures that Matt wasn't making a silly face in

Us with one of the rafts

Here is James thinking haha

For Sunday we made some yummy desserts- can you see the flag in this next picture?

Here are some "Oreo" cookies that I made with red, white and blue frosting... they were yummy!

With the leftover fruit we made some red, white and blue skewers. I dipped the strawberries in white chocolate. Mm mmm!
