My wonderful husband

This is just a thank you to my amazing husband who has had to put up with a lot because of this pregnancy. Not ever being constantly around someone who has been pregnant, I had no clue about all the twists that pregnancy would throw at a husband and wife.

One of the many twists is smell- smells really bother me to the point where I can't open our pantry because of the natural mixture of all of the food's smells. This would also explain why my husband has been living off of soups, ravoli, and other quick pasta dinners instead of our normal meals. The smells literally make me so sick that it has been nearly impossible to cook a decent meal.

Another twist brought about by pregnancy are my major 'food' swings. One moment I will feel completely normal (whatever 'normal' is with the constant nausea) and literally one minute later I will need food immediately or else I will get sick. Crazy- I never knew that happened, but after talking to other pregnant women, it is common. To make matters worse, at that point of extreme nausea, movement to the kitchen or anywhere else for that matter ensures immediate vomiting. So, my poor husband has to go to the kitchen and quickly find me something that sounds edible amidst my eating aversions.

Recently with my immediate morning sickness when I wake up, I can't get out of bed without getting sick, so Matt brings me my 'non-vomiting' medicine along with breakfast. Talk about daily breakfast in bed! My husband is wonderful!!!

Matt has done this and many more things that aren't typically his job while being overloaded with school and work. He is out of the house by 7:30 in the morning, doesn't get home until 6:30, and typically has about 3 hours of homework and TA stuff to do. All in all my husband has definitely surpassed his duties in caring for me and has really shown me what charity really means. I love him and will always be grateful for the constant love that he shows to me!

Mommy to Be Progress Notes

Well, this past Saturday marked the start of our 15th week of being pregnant- that's nothing too special though (for those who haven't been pregnant). Last week, week 14, was cool though because we officially started the second trimester. In the second trimester most women lose morning sickness and the constant nausea that often comes from the first trimester. After talking to my mom, she warned me that it may take a few extra weeks for my morning sickness to wear off, as that is what happened to her. Boy is she right! We are hoping that this week is better in that department, but last week was one of the worst weeks of nausea and all day sickness yet. Throughout the entire first trimester, people always told me to eat crackers the moment I get out of bed in order to not throw up, but I never ran into that problem. I was usually fine until after I ate breakfast- that's when the stomach fireworks would start and continued until I went to bed. During my week 14, however, when nausea is suppose to disappear is when I received the lovely gift of REAL morning sickness along with the constant nausea. Every morning last week within 2 minutes of waking up I would desperately have to go to the bathroom (those rumors about pregnant ladies ALWAYS going to the bathroom is true!!). On my way back to the bed it was inevitable that I got sick, no matter what I put or did not put into my stomach when I woke up. Oh the joys of pregnancy! :)

On a fun note, since finding out that we are going to be parents, we have so far made TWO purchases for the baby. We plan on getting most things from Craigslist but while shopping, we have found two steals that we couldn't pass up. Our fist buy for the baby (which I consider a milestone of sorts) is a Curious George DVD. Up here Circuit City is going out of business and had great prices on movies, so we splurged. We hadn't discussed how we would want media to influence our kids and how much and what we would limit our little kids to, but we both agreed that Curious George is a necessity. Our second buy were 6 books that we bought at a BYU bookstore sale for $5 total!! Some of the titles include Amelia Bedelia, Clifford the big red dog, two of the 'Harry' series books, Morris the Moose goes to school, and a tooth book (since Matt will be a dentist).

After making our first purchase for the baby, I sent a text message to my dad telling him and he replied, " Now it begins and it will NEVER stop". I thought about it and how both Matt's and my parents are still helping us out and how grateful we are for that. Thank you!!
