cutest boy ever!!
SNOW!!!
Here in Utah we have been in need of moisture for some time and we have finally gotten a good dose of it! 19 feet of snow fell in the mountains near our home yesterday. We only received about 8 inches of that at our house, but I still think that is a lot for one day! This week is full of snow storms, so hopefully I will be able to take more pictures of it! Here is a picture of James all bundled up getting ready to go to the store with me.
YUMMY FINGERS!
I am sure if he could he would put his entire fist in there! Here he is with an “You caught me” look:
Here he is after reading books:
Tis The Season!
Christmas is my favorite time of the year. The time we get to spend with family, remembering Christ, the friendliness of strangers, the hot chocolate, the Christmas trees and decorations, all of the neighborhood lights, and yes, even the snow (I never thought I would be saying that!). The Sunday after Thanksgiving we decided to put up our Christmas tree- this is the first Christmas that we have an artificial tree. :( I love the experience of going and chopping down a Christmas tree like we did last year, but since James is now here, we thought it would be safer if we stuck to an artificial tree instead.
We started putting it together pretty late at night, and James was fascinated by what we were doing- here he is watching dad put the tree together:
The tree is almost done…
The finished tree…
Now its time for lights! If you look closely you can see the Christmas lights :)
In case you didn’t notice, while Matt was putting up the lights, James decided to spit up all over himself so we had to change his outfit :)
While we were putting up the ornaments, James fell asleep so we didn’t take anymore pictures with him and the tree. But here is the finished product along with a few other Christmas decorations. I wish I could buy/make more decorations, but we have to be frugal. Oh some day!

James = 3 months!!!!
Wow! Another month has flown by and my handsome little guy keeps getting bigger and bigger. At 2 and 1/2 months we weighed him and he was 15 pounds!! He has remained that weight for almost 2 weeks- he is a big boy! (That means he is in the 90% percentile of boys his age).
As you can see he spits up… and not just a little bit… and not every now and then… he spits up constantly and it is a lot! We have found ways that help this problem, but we haven't found a perfect solution. Luckily he hasn’t developed any eating problems (due to a baby version of acid reflux) that are usually associated with spitting up.
James loves smiling and laughing with his mom, but even more so with his dad!
James doesn’t like tummy time when he is on the ground, but he loves it when he can do tummy time on top of us! He has been holding his head steady for about a month.
A new habit James has developed this past month has been drooling! Sometimes it seems like a constant fountain but since he doesn’t mind, neither do mom and dad!
James can stay pretty steady when he is propped up on the couch with a pillow. This is one HUGE change from the month of October to November- he absolutely loves to sit up! Because of this he loves his swing and loves to sit on our laps :)
Another new discovery James has made in the past month are his hands. He loves to put them in his mouth! He doesn’t like pacifiers, so this is the next best thing to help soothe him.
James loves to hold onto his toys and raise his legs up- he is the easiest baby in the world when it comes to changing diapers- he lifts his legs up and down at the exact right times!
His rattle is another toy he loves!
James has fallen asleep in his swing twice…. I think this is SO precious!
Another version of tummy time that James loves.
My cute little boy!
Happy Holidays!!!
I would say happy Thanksgiving but it is a little late! We have definitely enjoyed the past few weeks, and boy have they flown by! With taking care of James, fulfilling my church calling, doing crafts such as my ornament wreath and lighthouses made out of terra cotta pots, going to school, spending time with Matt, and going Christmas shopping, I haven’t had time to update the blog!
For Thanksgiving break we went down to the Evans’ home (Matt’s aunt and uncle) on Wednesday and Thursday. They live about 45 minutes away from our house so it was a short commute which was nice for James. There we spent time with 15 other relatives including our sister Ashley, great-grandparents, and more aunts and uncles and of course cousins! All in all it was very relaxing and exciting for James- he has never been held that much by so many people. We were scared that he wouldn’t let anyone else hold him beside mom and dad since we have had that problem in the past, but luckily he let everyone hold him and entertain him.
For the Thanksgiving meal, we brought Matt’s favorite funeral potatoes and boy were they yummy!
We didn’t take many pictures from the weekend because we were video recording most of the time, but here are a couple of pictures from Thanksgiving!

Two months old!
That’s right- James is two months old! Here are some of the highlights over the past few weeks :)
We went to a Halloween party and these were our costumes!
A cute Halloween outfit Grandma Mauger got him:
James got his two month shots :( He was a tough kid though- he only cried for about 30 seconds and then was fine!
A closer look (his thighs are so chubby!)
Whenever James takes baths he holds his fists in the air and gets a frightened look on his face, but he doesn’t say anything. Afterwards he is all smiles though… I don’t know if it is because he is glad he is out of the water or if he enjoyed bath time!
James still doesn’t like tummy time, but he definitely gets his head up pretty high. He will usually get his head up about 6 inches off the ground for about 5-7 minutes, and then he gets fussy.
My favorite thing is when he rests his head right under my chin- it doesn’t happen a lot because he loves to hold his head up and look around, but whenever it does happen, it makes my day!
He can’t sit up on his own yet, but he really likes it when we use something like the boppy to prop him up.
Recently James has started hitting his toys that hang below him. He still loves to stare and them (he can lay and stare at them for 15 minutes straight!) but every now and then he now reaches up to hit them!
Another new happening is the swing- he now loves to sit in his swing! Up until about a week ago whenever I would sit him in it he would start crying, but randomly he now likes it! (Which is nice for mom because now I can do chores more easily!)
The last discovery that James has made recently is that of his legs. He now likes to lift his legs and butt off the ground and put his knees close to his chest. We haven’t taken any pictures of that yet, but here is one last picture of him instead :)

Six Weeks of bliss :)
This past weekend was absolutely wonderful! James was able to finally meet my dad and brother and see my mom again! They came up for his baby blessing! James is officially six weeks old and looks so much bigger than when he was a newborn! Here are some recent pictures:
Dad and James just hanging out- James has started staying awake more and more so we get to play with him more!
sleeping after a long day!
His blessing outfit- he is a stud!
Grandma Shipley is holding him before church!
James in his BYU beanie that grandma and grandpa got him- thank you!
He is so adorable- we are the luckiest parents ever!
